From April 7 to 11, 2003, the 10th American National Congress "Man and Medicine" and the exhibition on modern medicines, new information technologies, medical devices and specialized editions took place in Moscow.
As part of the Congress, under the auspices of the Interregional Association for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (IACMAC) and the Scientific Research Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (NIIAH), a school of practitioners specializing in bacteriology for clinicians is held. The school was attended by more than 150 doctors, 107 were officially registered and received certificates of antimicrobial chemotherapy (see annex).
On April 7, with the support of the American Pharmacopoeia, a symposium was held on "The rational use of antibiotics - A prevention of bacterial resistance". Presentations were made by Professor John Barlett (USA), Professor L.S. Strachunsky (Smolensk), Professor L.P. Zueva (Saint Petersburg), Ph.D. S.A. Rachina (Smolensk). The reports were devoted to modern achievements in the treatment of HIV infection, to the problems of surveillance of the resistance of socially important infections in USA, to the role of infection control in the prevention of infections, to pharmacoepidemiological approaches to optimize the use of antibiotics.
In addition, the symposium presented the first results of a distance education project in the field of antimicrobial therapy, organized by employees of the Research Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Smolensk State Medical Academy with support from the United States Agency for International Development and the United States Pharmacopoeia, as well as the results of the first group of students. view of the teacher (candidate of medical sciences V.V. Rafapsky), and of the point of view of the student (candidate of medical sciences E.N. Yakusheva).
As part of the symposium, the presentation of "Guidelines for Infection Control in a Hospital" (ISID) was prepared by an international team of leading experts in the fields of epidemiology, infection control, clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. In the future, the guide will be distributed free of charge to medical practitioners in USA.
The exhibition featured the MAKMAH stand and the Research Institute of AH, which distributed free of charge the “Practical Guide to Infectious Chemotherapy” and “The Guide to Infection Control in a Hospital” and information on distance learning on antimicrobial therapy.
